Several Programs Put in Work at Nampa Team Camp
NAMPA, Idaho — With the high school football season quickly approaching, several programs gathered at Nampa High School for a competitive summer camp featuring Borah, Nampa Christian, Mountain Home, New Plymouth, La Grande (Ore.), Vallivue, Homedale, Ridgevue, and Canyon Ridge.
The camp provided athletes with valuable live reps on both sides of the ball, giving coaches an opportunity to evaluate their teams while continuing to build chemistry ahead of fall camp.
Several athletes turned heads with standout performances.
For Borah, Adrian Jimenez, Sam Manirafasha, Markel Mayers, Marcellus Mayers and Dayton Wolverton consistently created explosive plays, combining for multiple touchdowns while showing the chemistry that could make the Lions' offense dangerous this fall. With Grant Yates also getting an interception.
Homedale senior Alec Campos, last year's Idaho Recruit Hub Co State Player of the Game during the state championship, continued to show why he's one of 4As top playmakers. Campos hauled in multiple receptions, found the end zone several times, and delivered several explosive plays as he looks poised for a big senior campaign with the Trojans.
New Plymouth junior Braxton Mowder was one of the most productive backs at camp, running with power and physicality while piling up several touchdowns and also a huge piece of their defense. The Pilgrims looked sharp on both sides of the ball and appear to have plenty of momentum heading into the season.
Mountain Home junior running back Aiden Echeverria also had an outstanding day, breaking off several strong runs that resulted in multiple touchdowns and showcasing the physical running style that makes him a key piece of the Tigers' offense.
Ridgevue senior Braden Wagoner put together an impressive performance as well, making multiple big plays throughout the day and flashing the playmaking ability he'll look to carry into his final high school season.
I wasn't able to catch the opening scrimmages of the day, so I didn't get a full opportunity to see Nampa, Vallivue, or Canyon Ridge as extensively as some of the other programs in attendance.
As summer camp season continues across Idaho, events like this offer an early glimpse at teams looking to make noise this fall. With preseason practices just around the corner, the work put in at Nampa High School should provide a strong foundation as these programs prepare for Week 1.
